Nōte is a fragrance recommendation app available on iOS, Android, web, and Telegram. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being fully transparent about how your information is collected, used, and protected. Please read this policy carefully.
1. Information We Collect
When you use Nōte, we may collect the following types of information:
Information you provide directly:
Your name and email address (if you create an account)
Your quiz answers and fragrance preferences
Your saved fragrance matches and wardrobe (Premium)
Payment information processed via Stripe (we never store card details directly)
Information collected automatically:
Device type, operating system, and app version
Usage data — which features you use and how often
IP address and approximate location (country/region level only)
Referral source — how you found Nōte
We do not collect precise GPS location, contacts, camera access, or any data beyond what is needed to operate the app.
2. How We Use Your Information
Your information is used exclusively to provide and improve your Nōte experience:
To generate your personalized fragrance recommendations
To build and save your scent profile (Premium)
To deliver seasonal updates and new recommendations curated for your profile
To process and manage your Premium subscription
To improve the accuracy of our AI recommendation engine
To send optional notifications you have opted into
To respond to your support requests
We do not use your data for advertising, profiling for third parties, or any purpose unrelated to your fragrance experience.
3. Affiliate Links & Disclosure
Important disclosure: Nōte participates in affiliate marketing programs. When you click a "Shop now" link and make a purchase, we may earn a small commission at no additional cost to you. This is how we keep the core app free.

Affiliate relationships do not influence our recommendations. Fragrances are matched based solely on your personality quiz results. We never recommend a fragrance because of commission rates — only because it genuinely fits your profile.
All affiliate links are clearly associated with "Shop now" buttons on your results screen. Clicking these links may set cookies on the retailer's website as part of their standard affiliate tracking process.
4. AI Processing
Nōte uses AI to analyze your quiz answers and generate fragrance recommendations. Your quiz responses are sent to our AI provider (Anthropic) solely to generate your results. This processing is:
Limited to the purpose of generating your fragrance recommendations
Not used to train AI models beyond what Anthropic's own policies permit
Not linked to your identity by our AI provider
Processed in real time and not stored indefinitely by our AI provider
Your data is stored securely using industry-standard practices. We implement technical and organizational measures to protect your information from unauthorized access, loss, or misuse.
All data is transmitted over encrypted HTTPS connections
Passwords are hashed and never stored in plain text
Payment data is handled exclusively by Stripe and never stored on our servers
Database access is restricted to authorized personnel only
While we take every reasonable precaution, no system is completely immune to security risks. We encourage you to use a strong, unique password for your Nōte account.
6. Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data. We share information only in the following limited circumstances:
With Anthropic to process your quiz answers and generate AI recommendations
With Stripe to process subscription payments
With affiliate retailers when you click a Shop now link (standard affiliate cookie tracking)
With analytics providers (anonymized and aggregated data only)
When required by law, legal process, or to protect the safety of users
7. Third-Party Services
Nōte integrates with the following third-party services, each governed by their own privacy policies:
Anthropic — AI recommendation processing
Stripe — Payment processing
Airtable — Database and user profile storage
Make.com — Workflow automation

Google / Apple — Optional social sign-in

8. Telegram-Specific Data
If you use Nōte via our Telegram bot, the following applies:
Your Telegram user ID and username are shared with us automatically by Telegram
Messages you send to the bot are processed to generate your recommendations
We do not have access to your Telegram phone number or contacts
Telegram's own privacy policy governs the data held on their platform
Essential cookies — Required to keep you logged in and maintain your session
Analytics cookies — Anonymized usage data to help us improve the app
Affiliate cookies — Set by retailer websites when you click Shop now links
You can disable non-essential cookies in your browser settings at any time. This will not affect your ability to use Nōte's core features.
Our mobile apps (iOS and Android) do not use browser cookies. Mobile analytics are collected using anonymized device identifiers only.
10. Your Rights
You have the following rights regarding your personal data:
Access — Request a copy of the data we hold about you
Correction — Request that inaccurate data be corrected
Deletion — Request deletion of your account and all associated data
Portability — Request your data in a portable format

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time as our app evolves. When we make material changes, we will update the effective date at the top of this page and notify active users through the app or by email.
